Let’s visit Isabella

I know is a short notice adventure but why not?

Don’t think that Isabella is a super hot lady with big fake boobs!!! Lake Isabella  is a census-designated place (CDP) in the southern Sierra Nevada, in Kern County, California, United States. It is named after the Lake Isabella reservoir and located at its southwestern edge, 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Wofford Heights in the Kern River Valley.

An amazing lake close to Sequoia National Forest ( 43 miles), a perfect spot for a relaxing  weekend.

The plan is simple like always , on May 18th,  Saturday  morning at 08.30AM let’s have coffee at Chevron Gas Station on Rainbow and 95 (109 South Rainbow Blvd.) Fill up our gas-tanks , check the tire pressure and a few group pictures.

At 09.00 AM sharp let’s hit the road on 95, then I15 south on the way to California . First stop will be in Baker, for gas and coffee.

Second stop we will make it in Barstow, this one will be just for gas. From there we will make a right turn at Kramer Junction, on 395 North. At Inyokern we will switch to 14 and then 178 all the way to Lake Isabella.

We should be there around 1.00 pm, right on time for lunch. That will be at Sierra Vista Restaurant, 16575 CA-178, Weldon, CA 93283.

Around 2.30 back on the road, around the lake until we reach Wofford Heights. Here I booked a room for the night at Mount N Lake Motel, 311 E Evans Rd, Wofford Heights, CA 93285. You all can check and book , they have rooms available. Is $75/night/2 persons.

After we check in at the hotel, I will go for a hike around the lake and close to the evening maybe a short ride to the Sequoia Forest, at least at the entrance.

Night time, a few cold beers and watch the lake. Maybe also a fire camp if they will let us do one.

Next morning, after we have coffee, back on the road.

The return will be on the 178 until Panamint Springs, then the 190 and 374 to Beatty and finally 95 South to Las Vegas.

In big lines this is the plan. We will every 100 miles to get gas.

What you need to have with you : tooth brush , towel, sleeping pants and t-shirt , socks ,underwear, 2 long sleeves  , one extra pair of jeans, deodorant . This is not mandatory , is just a check list for a clean night. You can have double of those or none, all up to you. Anyway all those will fit in a small backpack so if you don’t have a luggage rack on your bike is not a problem.

Approximate total costs will sound like that :

  • Total miles 600 = $50 for gas
  • 4 times eating ( 2 lunch, one dinner and one breakfast ) $80/person
  • 1 night sleeping in a hotel around $80/room

We get a total of $210. On this you may add a few beers or a bottle of Jack but you can also bring that from home.

But let’s say the “damage” will be $250, 2 days on the road with a scenic view, historic roads and a great adventure.

IT IS YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY TO BOOK A HOTEL ROOM IN ORDER TO STAY OVERNIGHT. IS NOT MANDATORY TO BE IN THE SAME HOTEL, CAN BE ANYWHERE CLOSE BY (40 MILES RANGE)

See you on the road!
